NEWPORT will kick off the countdown to the Christmas season with a family-friendly event on Saturday, November 19.
Following on from BID’s previous successful events, Countdown to Christmas will take place from 3pm to 5.15pm and will include live music, fairground rides, and celebrity guests, culminating in the formal lighting of Newport’s city centre Christmas lights and a fireworks display.
The event will feature a main stage, located at the junction between Commercial Street and Charles Street.
Countdown to Christmas is being organised by Newport Now Business Improvement District (BID) in collaboration with Newport City Council, Friars Walk and Newport City Radio.
Newport Now BID chairman, Zep Bellavia, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be delivering another Countdown to Christmas event for the businesses and people of Newport.
“As usual, we will be offering something for all the family and Countdown to Christmas marks the official start of the festive trading period for the city centre. There has never been a more important Christmas to go out and support your local businesses.
“We are sure families from across Newport and beyond will again visit the city centre for what promises to be a fantastic event packed with surprises.”
