Police respond to ‘serious incident’ in Talbot Green

Helicopter and emergency services deployed as public urged to avoid area

SOUTH WALES POLICE have confirmed they are responding to a serious incident in Talbot Green, with emergency services deployed and a police helicopter circling the area.

The incident is said to have taken place in the Green Park area, and officers have asked the public to avoid the area while the response is ongoing.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police told Herald.Wales: “Emergency services are responding to a serious incident in the Green Park area of Talbot Green. We ask members of the public to please avoid the area. More details will follow as soon as available.”

Residents have reported a heavy police presence, with several emergency vehicles spotted at the scene.

Local leaders urge caution

Alex Davies-Jones, MP for Pontypridd, has urged people not to speculate about the incident.

Posting on social media, she said: “Please stay safe everyone and follow police advice to avoid the Green Park area. We must let law enforcement do their jobs and avoid spreading speculation.”

Local councillor Sarah Jane Davies, who represents Llantrisant and Talbot Green, said she had contacted police following concerns about a rise in incidents in the community.

She wrote: “I want to address the recent increase in incidents that have caused concern and alarm. I have spoken with the RCT Council leader, Andrew Morgan, and will be arranging a meeting with South Wales Police to discuss these matters.”

South Wales Police have urged the public to be mindful when commenting online.

A spokesperson said: “We expect our communities to be respectful and avoid unhelpful speculation. We are monitoring social media and hiding comments that do not adhere to these guidelines.”
