THE Baglan Hotel in Treherbert has been forced to close for a week after Police received reports that a wedding party were served meals inside during bad weather.
A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called concerning a breach of Coronavirus regulations in the Treherbert area at 4.15pm on Saturday, May 8.
“An investigation is on-going to take retrospective action against those who were in breach of the law and the matter is also being looked into by the local authority’s licensing department.”
A statement on the pub’s Facebook page read: “On Saturday we had a wedding booked here at the hotel, due to the weather we choose to serve our guests their meal inside.
“Our pub/restaurant was closed to the general public however we had a visit from the police .
“And due to this decision we have been ordered to close our premises for a week. This is our mistake and we take it on board . So we will see you all next Tuesday.”
Welsh Government guidelines say that wedding receptions are allowed with no more than 15 people eating a sit-down meal outdoors.
People are not allowed to eat indoors at the current time but that is expected to change when restrictions are updated on May 17.
At that point it’s expected that indoor wedding receptions with up to 30 guests will be allowed.
