Pontypridd woman found after missing for a week

SOUTH WALES Police located a body that was formally identified as 49-year-old Joanne Jones, Saturday (26 Oct). Jones was last spotted on Graigwen Road, Pontypridd heading towards Llanwonno Forest. 

Next of Kin and H M Coroner have been notified. 

Jones’ family are grateful to all members of the community and emergency services for helping them locate her over the past week. The family have requested privacy, to come to terms and mourn over their loss. 

Detective Chief inspector Emma Hampton said “I want to express my sympathies to Joanne’s family at what is a very sad time for them.” 

“I also want to thank our emergency services colleagues and members of the public who assisted in our search effort over the last week.” 

“I can also confirm that we are not treating Joannes’ death as suspicious.” 

South Wales Police said “Extensive searches were carried out, involving multiple agencies. CCTV images were also shared as part of an appeal to find Ms Jones, who was last seen wearing a green coat, walking boats and a black rucksack.”
