CONTROL of street lighting in Llantwit Fardre is set to be transferred from the community council to Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council.
Following a request from Llantwit Fardre Community Council, RCT Council will adopt and maintain the street lighting assets and once the agreement is in place, all street lighting faults will be reported to RCT.
A delegated officer decision grants permission to adopt and maintain the street lighting currently maintained by Llantwit Fardre Community Council.
After the transfer of the footpath maintenance back to RCT, Llantwit
Fardre Community Council representatives requested the council adopt all streetlighting which is in their ownership to RCT highways.
RCT, under its maintenance contract, will ensure the street lighting assets are maintained to current standards, codes of practice and regulations, the report said.
This will include regular inspections and electrical and structural testing to ensure safety to the public.
All reported queries an faults with the street lighting assets will be actioned promptly as per the maintenance contract requirements, the report added.
It added they will also fall under the authority’s current part-night policy.
A contribution of £23,000 will be made by Llantwit Fardre Community Council for the future maintenance and running costs of the street lighting assets.
The report said other costs could include the legal costs associated with preparation of an agreement, replacement costs of lighting columns and associated works when required and revenue costs associated with the running and maintenance costs of the lighting columns.
