Alun Wyn Jones named most popular Welsh rugby player, study reveals

WALES captain Alun Wyn Jones has been revealed as the most popular Welsh Rugby player according to new research.

Jones, the world’s most capped rugby union player and one of the best players in his generation, was searched on average 33,804 times.

LiveRugbyTickets.co.uk conducted the study by analysing global google search volumes in 2021, utlimately allowing them to rank the most loved rugby players so far this year.

Coming in second is Dan Biggar with 13,496 average monthly searches. The Welsh fly-half is one of the most popular players in the current squad and has made 92 appearances for his country.  

In third with 11,708 average monthly searches is Liam Williams. Williams, who currently plays for the Scarlets, has made 71 appearances for his country and is known for his unusual running style.

Coming in fourth is Jonathan Davies with 8,944 average monthly searches and completing the top five is Gareth Davies with 4,680 average monthly searches – 86% less than Alun Wyn Jones in first.

Other playes in the top ten include Jonathan and Gareth Davies, Ken Owens, Ross Moriarty, Taulupe Faletau, Rhys Priestland and Tomas Francis.
