Gerwyn Price has secured his spot in the third round of the PDC World Championships after a victory over Ritchie Edhouse this evening.

The Iceman was able to overcome Edhouse with a 3-1 victory after a relatively rocky start to the match.

Price fought hard and overcame the roar of the boos to defeat the 80th ranked world darts competitor.

The Welshman conceded the first set 3 legs to 0, despite edging an 89.56 average compared to the Englishman’s 88.41. The crowd was already on his back at this point.

It was a competitive second set where Price’s famous form started to grow – as he checked out 3/4 of his chances to make it 1-1 on sets after winning the leg 3-2.

Price took the advantage in the third set, and although he struggled to land his doubles with just 3/13 landing, he won 3-2 on legs – checking out to make it 2-1 on sets.

The fourth and final set saw a clean sweep from Price after a flurry of confident darts – boasting a 100% checkout rate, averaging 112.73. The match ended 3-1 to Gerwyn Price.

The Iceman could clash with Fallon Sherrock in the third round/RO32 as he faces either Kim Huybrechts or the winner of Beaton vs Sherrock.

The third round ties will take place between Monday 27th and Wednesday 29th of December.

Teammate and Welshman Jonny Clayton faces either Keane Barry or Roydon Lam in the second round on Sunday 19th December, as The Ferret look to end the year on a high.

Jonny Clayton also sets his sights on the PDC World Championship 2022 after a successful year of darts.
