An Exciting opportunity awaits local businesses as Bridgend County Borough hosts its first-ever Social Enterprise Marketplace event on 20 September.
Held at the community-owned Bryncethin Community Centre, the event—organised by Cwmpas and Bridgend County Borough Council—will bring together social enterprises, trading charities, community organisations, and entrepreneurs from across South Wales.
The free event is aimed at procurement teams and buyers from both public and private sectors, providing an opportunity to discover the wide array of goods and services offered by the social enterprise sector.
One of the exhibitors will be Manumit Coffee Roasters, an ethical business that supports survivors of modern slavery by offering employment, training, and support.
Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development & Housing, said: “It’s wonderful to see such a diverse range of services showcased, from catering and marketing to social support for care leavers and women’s self-defence.”
Martin Downes FRSA, Learning and Development Lead at Cwmpas, added: “Social enterprises like Manumit are making a real difference by addressing social issues while offering strong commercial opportunities.”
This initiative is part of the Bridgend Social Enterprise Support Programme, funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, which runs until March 2025.
Also, Bridgend County Borough’s biggest jobs fair is back at the Bowls Hall, Bridgend Life Centre, on Thursday 19 September.
The ‘Bridgend Jobs, Careers, and Prospects Fair,’ hosted by Employability Bridgend in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, will run from 10am to 1pm.
