THE CARMARTHENSHIRE ANTIQUARIAN SOCIETY

On Saturday 12 November, the county’s history society, the Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Society, will be holding a one-day conference on Art and Artists in Carmarthenshire. The venue will be the Halliwell Theatre, University of Trinity St David, Carmarthen.

Subjects to be covered will range from Carmarthen’s first professional artist and the story of its School of Art to artists born in the county and elsewhere who were inspired by it and its landscape. The keynote speaker will be Wales’s foremost art historian Peter Lord and there will be various speakers on individual artists.

The deadline for booking a place is 1 November. Further details including a downloadable booking form will be available on the society’s website www.carmants.org.uk where more information can also be found about the society and how to become a member. There is a reduced booking fee for members of the society.

Membership will provide a free copy of the society’s long-respected publication The Carmarthenshire Antiquary and a wide-ranging programme of events throughout the year plus a monthly online newsletter. Refunds will be given at the conference to new members who have paid the full booking fee.
