Armed police called to reported stabbing in Swansea nightclub Fiction

ARMED police officers were deployed following reports of a stabbing in Fiction nightclub in Swansea in the early hours of Saturday (Feb 04).

Two people were injured while one man has been arrested, while a man from the city has been arrested and a weapon has been seized, according to police.

A South Wales Police spokesman said a 35-year-old man had been arrested following an assault in a nightclub in Swansea on Saturday.

They confirmed the man was from Townhill, Swansea, and had been arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault following an incident at the Fiction nightclub in Swansea city centre during the early hours of February 4.

The man was arrested shortly after the matter was reported to South Wales Police, the spokesman added. One man is receiving hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A second man was also injured but did not attend hospital.

Following the incident detective David Connick said on Saturday: “At 2.30am today officers on patrol in Swansea city centre were alerted to the report of a stabbing at the nightclub in Salubrious Place. Armed officers were deployed as a precaution to ensure the safety of the public and officers.

“The suspect remains in custody and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident. We are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter and a weapon has been seized.”
