A learner from Ammanford wins Cam wrth Gam national award

LAURA WILLIAMS, Cylch Meithrin Parcyrhun, has won Learner of the Year in the South-West area for her work completing their Level 3 Childcare, Play, Learning and Development course.

To meet the training needs of staff in the Cylchoedd Meithrin we established the Cam wrth Gam National Training Scheme which is a national training scheme offering world-class childcare training and qualifications to staff on the ground.

Laura was presented with the award during a special Cam wrth Gam awards ceremony held at The Great Hall, Aberystwyth University on November 2nd.

Presenting her with the award, Myfanwy Jones, Tutor/Assessor of the Cam wrth Gam scheme, said: “Laura demonstrated the ability to link theory to practice very early in the qualification which developed into creating very detailed pieces of research that have been a pleasure to read.

“She shows that she has great ideas for activities but more than that, she is seen to give the children amazing experiences and this is because of her drive and enthusiasm.

“Sometimes she was so excited about what she had discovered about children’s actions and developed the aptitude to discuss and relate them quite naturally with theories of development.”

Since it began in 2004 over 4,500 people have gained a recognised early years qualification through the scheme, contributing to the creation of a qualified workforce to work in the Cylchoedd Meithrin and day nurseries across Wales.
