Ammanford edge past battling Celtic

AMMANFORD earned their second win in a row on Saturday (Oct 29) as a goal from Rhys Fisher earned them a 3-2 win over Cwmbran Celtic.

Ammanford saw off Swansea University the previous week thanks to goals from Jordan Langley and Callum Silcox.

And on Saturday, the home side got off to the perfect start with Silcox setting up Lee Trundle to score after eight minutes.

The home side looked to hold on to their lead until the break but five minutes before half time a mix up at the back, which saw the ball bounce over the Ammanford keeper, allowed Lewis Iles in to tap the ball into an empty net.

Then on the stroke of half time, Trundle turned provider for Langley to restore Ammanford’s lead.

Twelve minutes into the second half Celtic were level once more as Alex McDowell found Iles who wrapped a shot into the net to make it 2-2.

With just over twenty minutes to go Ammanford went ahead once more with Rhys Fisher getting the goal.

Celtic looked for another equaliser but despite their efforts they were unable to score again as Ammanford held on for the win.

The win for Ammanford sees them move above Celtic and into eighth place in the JD Cymru South table.

Ammanford are next in action on Friday night (Nov 4) as they visit Briton Ferry Llansawel. Cwmbran’s next game is on Saturday, November 5, and sees them travel to Ynyshir Albions.
