Carmarthenshire marks five years since pandemic

ON SUNDAY, 9 March 2025, Carmarthenshire County Council will join the nation in marking five years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This milestone offers residents a chance to reflect on the pandemic’s profound impact on our lives, communities, and the world.

As part of the National Day of Reflection, County Hall in Carmarthen will be illuminated in yellow on Sunday evening to honour those lost to the pandemic. The Council encourages local people to participate in the national minute’s silence at midday on 9 March, as a collective moment of reflection.

Carmarthenshire County Council Leader, Cllr Darren Price, said: “The pandemic was an incredibly challenging and painful time for everyone, and its effects are still felt today. As we reflect on this time, it’s important to recognise both the challenges we’ve faced and the strength we’ve shown as a community.”

This annual event is a time to remember and honour those we lost, acknowledge the dedication of our key workers, and reflect on the strength and unity of our communities.
