DURING the summer, the Family Information Service, Childcare and Play Team proudly hosted a series of free family events across the county to celebrate National Playday. As well as a celebration of children’s right to play, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.
Three exciting events took place in Carmarthen Park, Ammanford Park, and Llanelli’s Maes Y Gors, attracting families and children from all around. Collaborating with various services within the County Council, Health Board, and the third sector, the events provided an excellent opportunity for families to connect with resources and learn about the array of support available to them.
From giant bubble making to messy play, sports skills activities, and loose parts play, there was something for everyone. Families also enjoyed a healthy picnic snack box.
The turnout was remarkable, with over 400 children attending and participating in the vibrant activities. The success of these events could not have been achieved without the dedication and hard work of all those involved— thank you for making this celebration of play a reality!
