Wales & West Utilities says goodbye to Llandeilo for at least 80 years

WALES & West Utilities has completed its work to extensively upgrade gas pipes across Llandeilo and, in doing so, has waved goodbye to the town for at least 80 years.

The gas emergency and pipeline service has been most recently working in the Rhosmaen Street, New Road and Crescent Road areas of the town to upgrade gas pipes to ensure that the gas is kept flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses long into the future.

All works have been planned in conjunction with Carmarthenshire County Council and South Wales Trunk Road Agency.

Wales & West Utilities Dean Jones managed the most recent gas pipe upgrade work. He said: “We are delighted to have completed this final section, which now brings our work in the town, barring any emergencies, to a close.

“We’d like to thank everyone who lives and works in Llandeilo for bearing with us. While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the town.

“Our team have worked tirelessly to complete this final section ahead of schedule. This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.”

Wales & West Utilities, the gas emergency and pipeline service, brings energy to 7.5m people across the south west of England and Wales.
