Clarbeston Road earn win over Monkton

CLARBESTON Road earned their third win of the season on Saturday (Dec 10) as they beat Monkton Swifts 3-1.

Clarby were in good form with two wins and a draw in their previous three games and Saturday’s game was just seven minutes old when Rob Morgans opened the scoring for the visitors.

Six minutes before the break Monkton equalised through Connor Hay.

Clarby had a chance to retake the lead soon after but a header from a corner was cleared off the line.

It remained 1-1 until half time and both sides still held hopes of picking up the victory.

Ten minutes into the second half it was Clarby who went ahead and four minutes they were awarded a penalty. Morgans stepped up and scored to make it 3-1.

Despite their efforts Monkton were unable to get back into the game and Clarby held on for the win.

The win for Clarby lifts them up to fifth place in the table while Monkton stay in third.

On Saturday, December 17, Clarbeston Road host Carew while Monkton Swifts visit Hakin United.
