Cleddau Reach pupils to share the stage with top international tenor Rhys Meirion

Cleddau Reach pupils will be sharing the stage with one of Wales’ leading international tenors this month after being asked to perform at a fund raising concert for Adam’s Bucketful of Hope Cancer Support Centre.

The children will be joined by none other than Rhys Meirion who is a regular performer with the English National Opera as well as having sung with Opera Frankfurt and the West Australian Opera.  In 2006 he was nominated for a Classical Brit Award for his album Benedictus, which he recorded together with the bass-baritone Bryn Terfel.

“We’re delighted that our wonderful pupils have been asked to perform at the concert,” commented Cleddau Reach headmaster Rhys Buckley.

“As a school we’re always aiming to support local causes and this is certainly a very worthy one for us to get behind,”

The Cleddau Reach school singers are no strangers to the concert platform.

“From a school perspective, the choir has enjoyed a fantastic academic year, performing in venues such as Picton Castle, St David’s Cathedral and Vincent Davies to name a few,” continued Mr Buckley.

“And now, having the opportunity to perform in front of a large audience alongside such incredible talent, is truly wonderful. As well as giving our pupils the opportunity to  shine, it’s also reinforcing in them the value in supporting charitable causes.”

Performing alongside the Cleddau Reach pupils will be the Gyrlais Male Voice Choir  and the Bucketful Charity Choral Choir.

The concert takes place at Haverfordwest High School, Prendergast,  on March 25.  Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions) and can be collected from the Bucketful of Hope offices in 11 Dew Street, Haverfordwest or purchased on the door the evening of the concert.
