SWANSEA residents have been given more time to sign up for a Resilient Swansea community climate change workshop in their area. Since the impacts of climate change will be felt by everyone, organisers are urging people from all walks of life to reserve a place as soon as possible.
Residents are invited to join one of 12 community workshops across the county this month, aiming to bring together a wide variety of organisations, communities, residents and local businesses. The sessions will explore the issues and opportunities relating to climate change in their area and will begin the process of setting out a roadmap for a greener, stronger community.
The Resilient Swansea project is being delivered by the Swansea Climate Signatories Group, made up of Swansea Council, Natural Resources Wales, Swansea Bay University Health Board, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Swansea University, Coastal Housing, Local Nature Partnership, Pobl, Swansea BID, Afallen, Swansea Environment Forum, Gower College, Mid and West Wales Fire Service South Wales Police and SCVS.
The outcome of the workshops will be a report which will form the basis of a strategy for Swansea, which will have wellbeing at its heart, ensuring everyone’s needs are reflected across all parts of society.
With warmer, wetter, winters and hotter, drier, summers expected to become the norm, the workshops will explore how we might take further action to reduce the negative impacts of climate change while successfully coping with them. This will be in the context of creating healthy and sustainable communities, fostering vibrant and safe places for people to live and work, as well as enhancing and protecting nature and the environment.
Workshops will be delivered bilingually with dedicated English and Welsh discussion groups available.
