IT was a sell out in the Club house at Carmarthen Town AFC to see former England legend Paul Gascoigne talk about his life and footballing career.
Gazza had the crowd in stitches with his stories from his past and was incredibly emotional with the ovation he received by the crowed.
Upon speaking to Gascoigne during the event he said: “I never knew that the people in Wales thought this much of me. I am so grateful for the welcome I had from them all. I now have a soft spot for Wales and the Welsh international team and will be cheering them on during the World Cup, after England of course.
“They have Bale who can catch Pigeons jogging, I hope they do well”.
Speaking to one of the crowd Wayne ‘Wolves’ Jones, a former Carmarthen Town player, said: “I think it’s fantastic that 33 Promotions could attract such a high profile sports celebrity to our Town Carmarthen!
“To see the amount of Spurs fans along with just other football fans support the occasion was a credit to all. I was privileged to meet one of my boy hood hero’s as a loving football fan. Great service also must be mentioned by Dean Davies and his staff at Carmarthen Town. Great night for all of us in attendance.”
The event was kindly sponsored by a variety of local businesses: Castell Howell Foods, Morgan Ellis solicitors, SA1 Motors, D-12 Gym, the Black Ox Pub, Tutis Energy, plus many more.
