Llandeilo Bowling Club preps for lawn bowls season

The SPRING has sprung and with it comes preparations by Llandeilo Bowling Club (LBC) for the lawn bowls season.

The prospect of the outdoor lawn bowls season follows on from a very successful indoor short mat season for the Llandeilo Short Mat team which saw it recently promoted to Division 1 of the Carmarthenshire Short Mat League.

This was particularly encouraging as it was only the team’s second League season since the club was established 3 years ago.

A number of new members have joined the club since its inception and this year three of its members led by Captain, Jamie Davies, made it through to the Welsh National Competitions held at Llandrindod Wells.

The current president of LBC, Sara Nicholls, has made it through to the Welsh Bowls Indoor National singles Finals which are being played in Merthyr this weekend (April 15-16, 2023) as a Welsh international bowls player she has been and is a huge ambassador for our Club.

A lot of work has been undertaken by LBC on its green in recent months with volunteers, led by King Jones, recently completing a major renovation of the ditches surrounding the green so that it is ready for play when the green is officially opened by local dignitaries on Saturday, April 15.

On Saturday, April 29 from 1pm LBC will be hosting, with refreshments, an open day for potential new members. Anyone interested in playing lawn bowls is encouraged to come along and have a go.

The session is free of charge and all you need are flat soled shoes or trainers. Bowls will be provided and our qualified coaches will be there to show you the ropes.

Whether you are interested in competitive bowls or just a social pass time for fun and friendship come along and give it ago – what’s there to lose!

Club night is every Tuesday evening at LBC (Behind the Fire Station) at 6pm and you can be assured a warm welcome.
