Llanelli man denies sexual assault allegations at Swansea Crown Court

A LLANELLI man has pleaded not guilty to allegations of sexual assault, claiming the incident did not occur.

Kyle Jones, 24, of Station Road, Llanelli, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on charges of intentional sexual touching without consent. The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday (Oct 2) at Coyote Ugly, a bar in Swansea.

The prosecution, led by Ms Randall, outlined events suggesting Jones and his friends met the complainant and her friend during a night out in Swansea. Around 2am, the group returned to Coyote Ugly, where the alleged assault is said to have occurred in the bar’s smoking area.

PROSECUTION CASE
Ms Randall told the court that Jones pulled the complainant’s dress and ran his hand up her leg despite her protests, eventually touching her vagina. Distressed, the complainant said she grabbed her friend and returned inside the bar. CCTV footage reportedly captured part of the interaction.

The complainant testified she had initially engaged in casual conversation with Jones at the bar, but upon returning later that evening, the alleged incident unfolded. “We were talking like normal, but then he pulled my dress towards him. I felt his hand go up my leg, and I pushed him away,” she said. “He asked me to go into the bathroom with him, but I said no. He then touched my leg again and ran his hand up to my vagina. I grabbed my friend and went back inside the bar.”

The complainant added that Jones and his friend followed her to a nearby venue, One Eyed Jacks, prompting her to inform door staff, who contacted the police.

WITNESS STATEMENTS
The complainant’s friend, Amy Brice, told the court her friend was visibly upset after the incident, though she admitted she did not see Jones touch the complainant’s vagina. Brice recalled the victim saying Jones had made her feel uncomfortable.

David Fisher, a doorman at both venues, corroborated the complainant’s account, stating she appeared “distressed” and disclosed that a male had touched her and persistently asked her to go to a hotel. Fisher said he contacted police and ensured the men were denied entry to One Eyed Jacks.

PC Joseph Wilcox, of South Wales Police, testified that the complainant described feeling followed by Jones and his friend. When questioned, Jones denied the allegations and claimed he was unaware of any wrongdoing.

DEFENCE ARGUMENTS
Defence barrister Ms George challenged the complainant’s credibility, suggesting the alleged incident did not happen. The defence referenced a conversation in which the complainant allegedly mentioned creating content for Only Fans, a claim she denied.

Ms George also highlighted CCTV footage showing the complainant handing something to Jones, which the complainant insisted she did not recall but said was “not drugs.”

In a prepared police statement, Jones denied the allegations, stating: “The complainant was flirtatious, but I did not touch her.” He provided no further comment during the investigation.

The trial continues.
