LIAM MORGAN WHITTLE died following a night out in Llanelli.
A grieving mum has described the devastating loss of her ‘loving, caring and funny’ son as his killer is jailed.
Liam Morgan Whittle died after suffering catastrophic head injuries from two punches following a night out in Llanelli.
He was just 22.
Today, Jason Thomas has been jailed for manslaughter after admitting to dealing the fatal blows on Sunday, March 25, 2023.
Liam’s mother Claire Whittle said: “What this has done to me and us as a family is something I would not want anyone else to ever have to go through. Liam didn’t have an illness that took him too early, he didn’t have an unexpected accident and he didn’t want to die.
“He was killed.
“No matter what I say, words cannot explain the pain, devastation, anguish, and anger we have endured since Liam was taken. Nobody should go through tragedy like we all have because it is unending.
“We will never come to terms with it, and we will never heal.”
The court heard how Liam had been on a night out in Llanelli when he went to an address in Robinson Street with a friend. Jason Thomas was also there, and a dispute broke out between the two, resulting in Liam being assaulted.
When paramedics and police arrived, Liam was unconscious inside the flat. Tragically, he died during the early hours of the morning.
Despite initial accounts being that Liam had fallen asleep on the floor inside the flat, police enquiries established he had been assaulted.
Thomas was arrested and later charged with manslaughter, which he admitted on Monday, February 10, 2025.
He has today been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.
Liam’s mother added: “Liam was 22 years old when he was taken from us. He had time on his side to fulfil his dreams. Those have all been shattered now, as well as my dreams for him.

“I never thought for one minute that the last time I saw Liam I would never see him again, that a night out would turn into a lifetime of what ifs and maybes.
“I just try to remember Liam for the person he was. He was a whirlwind who filled a room even if he didn’t say anything. His laugh was infectious, and those facial expressions – what I wouldn’t do to see them again. He was random and funny and knew facts that no one else did. He was loving and caring, boisterous, and loud.
“There will be no limit to this endless suffering that we as Liam’s family carry with us. In a world where I no longer have Liam, I can no longer answer questions, guide him and be there for him.
“Now I have to live with him inside my broken heart which I will carry for the rest of my life.
“We started a life sentence the day Liam was taken from us and it will not end until we take our last breath.”
Detective Superintendent Wayne Bevan, senior investigating officer, said: “My thoughts first go to Liam’s family and friends, who will forever suffer the consequences of Jason Thomas’s actions. While it will not minimise their loss, I hope today’s sentence comes as some comfort to them in seeing that justice has been served.
“Liam died in tragic circumstances following a night out with a friend. The violent behaviour of another man, Jason Thomas, led to the most devastating outcome, and the family of Liam, along with Jason Thomas will have to live with his actions for the rest of their lives.
“The consequences of alcohol-related violence can be tragic as we have sadly seen here, and we urge people to consider the impact their actions could have.
“If you are faced with confrontation, please just walk away. You might save your own or someone else’s life by taking that brave step.”
