LEE WATERS is the incumbent MS for the Llanelli constituency.
On May 6, he defends the most marginal of Wales’ parliamentary seats.
His career has taken him from broadcast journalism with ITV Wales, reporting on the Westminster Parliament, to working with sustainable transport charity Sustrans and becoming Director of the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
In 2016, he won Llanelli by under 400 votes from his Plaid Cymru rival Helen Mary Jones.
For the last two years, he held the post of Deputy Minister for the Economy and Transport. In that time, he made his mark as one of the Welsh Government’s more articulate media performers and combative Senedd performers.
This week, he spoke with our Political Editor, Jon Coles.
In a wide-ranging interview, Lee Waters was candid about the challenges facing the next Welsh Government. He was equally outspoken in his opinion about Wales’ future as part of the United Kingdom.
His view on the latter of those is sure to raise a few eyebrows.
