Llangennech earn win over Llanelli

LLANGENNECH earned their eighth win of the season on Saturday (Mar 4) as they beat Llanelli Wanderers 26-11 at Stradey Park.

It was Llangennech’s first game since their 106-10 beating of Pembroke on January 14 but they showed little signs of rustiness in the first half as they built up a 6-14 lead.

Lewis Jones scored two penalties for the Wanderers but Llangennech scored two tries to take the lead into the interval.

Jones added a try in the second half for the Wanderers but it wasn’t enough to stop the visitors who earned a bonus point.

Tries for Llangennech came from Liam Hutchings, Joseph Hutchings, Luke Davies and replacement back row Greg George. There were three conversions from Luke Davies.

The win for Llangennech keeps them in touch with the top three. They sit four points behind third placed Gowerton with five games in hand.

They start their catch-up on Friday night, March 10, as they host second placed Newcastle Emlyn, with kick off at 7:30pm.

They also have games on Thursday, March 16, against Gorseinon and on March 22 against Whitland as they look to get back into the promotion reckoning.

Llanelli Wanderers are next in action on Saturday, March 25, when they tavel to Hendy.
