Pembrokeshire man admits breaching sexual harm prevention order

A 48-year-old man has been sent to Swansea Crown Court for sentence after breaching a sexual harm prevention order from his home in Stepaside, near Tenby.

Ian Griffiths was visited by police officers on January 9, as they carried out a risk assessment visit as a result of him being placed on a sexual harm prevention order in August 2019.  The order will continue until August 2024.

But during the officers’ visit, Griffiths admitted purchasing a new laptop.

“One of the conditions of the sexual harm prevention order is that if the defendant buys a computer or any device capable of accessing the internet or of storing images, they must notify the police within three days,” Crown Prosecutor Kelly Rivers told Haverfordwest magistrates earlier this week.

“But this hadn’t been done.”

The five-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed on Griffiths after he was convicted of making indecent photographs in August 2017.

This week he pleaded guilty to breaching the order and the matter was adjourned until April 4 when Griffiths will be sentenced at Swansea Crown Court.  He was released on unconditional bail.
