Division 2: Milford United promoted but wait goes on for title

MILFORD United have earned promotion back to the first division of Pembrokeshire football.

On Saturday (Apr 15), they beat Monkton Swifts seconds 6-3, having also beaten them 2-1 at Marble Hall just two days previous to earn their promotion.

They have one game to go and a win would put them on 58 points. That final game though sees them host Hakin United seconds who could claim the title if they beat Milford and win their other remaining games.

Milford United’s with Hakin United seconds takes place on Thursday, April 20, 6pm kick off.

Josh Sture put Monkton ahead on Saturday after ten minutes but Milford equalised almost straightaway through Ieuan Hawkins.

Jordan Kilby then put the Swifts back in the lead but back came Milford as Hawkins scored his second of the game to level it at 2-2 after 22 minutes.

Tom Grimwood gave Milford the lead for the first time in the game on the half hour mark and Hawkins then completed his hat trick three minutes later.

Hawkins added a fourth shortly after the restart but the Swifts hit back with a goal from Lee Duignan to make it 3-5.

Hawkins then scored a fifth late on to secure the win for Milford.
