Division 2: Tenby and Herbrandston earn victories

TENBY and Herbrandston both won on Saturday (Apr 1) as they continued their push for promotion to Division 1.

Tenby earned a 9-1 win over Solva with Scott Ferney scoring five goals. He got the first in the eleventh minute and then doubled the lead from the penalty spot midway through the half.

Ferney added a third early in the second half before goals from Sam Butler and Jack Tucker made it 5-0.

Ferney then added his fourth and fifth goals, either side of a goal from Ethan Blake. Butler added his second and Tenby’s ninth late on to seal a comfortable win.

The win moves Tenby to within a point of second placed Hakin United seconds with both sides having played the same amount of games.

Herbrandston came from two goals down to beat Johnston 5-3 in an exciting game.

Joey George put Johnston ahead early on and Marcus Allen doubled the lead after 25 minutes.

Six minutes later though, Herbie began their comeback as Ashton Plunkett pulled a goal back. Three minutes later Craig Nicholson levelled the game and they were ahead in the 39th minute when Daniel Armstrong found the net.

They weren’t done there either as Scott Reid added Herbie’s fourth shortly before the break.

Reid then added his second in the 67th minute to all but seal the win for the visitors. Tom Richards scored a third goal for Johnston but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback as Herbie held on for the win.

The win for Herbie moves them five points behind second placed Hakin seconds having played a game more than those above them.
