Division 2: Whitland lead the way

WHITLAND lead the way in Division 2 after they earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday (May 20), beating Johnston by 156 runs.

Whitland batted first and made an excellent score of 250-5 in their innings.

Ed John top scored for Whitland with 69 while Kevin Pearce added 66. Jack Bowen scored 33 and Gopal Ramasamy scored 25.

Gethin Scourfield finished unbeaten on 24 as Whitland posted their highest total of the season so far.

Liam James took 3-41 for Johnston while Mark Hicks had 1-51 and Joe Jones took 1-24.

In reply, Johnston’s Keegan Cood top scored with 35 and Gino Cleal added 20. That was as good as it got for the home side though as they were bowled out for 94.

Cian Rees was the star of the show for Whitland as he finished with excellent figures of 5-7. Geraint Phillips also had 2-38 while Conor Bowen and Ramasamy also took a wicket each.

On Saturday, May 27, Whitland host Llanrhian while Johnston travel to Llechryd.
