Duggie Morris Cup: Neyland, Llangwm and Carew into quarter finals

HOLDERS Neyland, Llangwm, Carew and Saundersfoot are among the sides who will be competing in the quater finals of the Duggie Morris Cup this week.

The first round took place last week, with Neyland beating Cresselly in their first round game. Neyland scored 176-3 in their innings thanks to Ashley Sutton who finished not out on 106.

Cresselly’s Ryan Lewis finished unbeaten on 43 but it wasn’t enough as they finished 45 runs short on 131-5.

Neyland’s opponents will be Saundersfooot who saw off Hook last week. Saundersfoot scored 169-5 in their innings with Tom Mansbridge top scoring with 75.

Liam Miller scored 70 for Hook but they also finished short on 139-7.

The game between Saundersfoot and Neyland takes place on Thursday, May 25.

Narberth are also in the quarter finals after they beat Whitland. They scored 173-5 with R Dyer finishing unbeaten on 53. Whitland were unable to reach their target though as they finushed on 97-9.

Burton will be their opponents in the quarter finals after they saw off Herbrandston in the first round. Burton scored 145-6 in their innings with Dan Ridge scoring 39 and Toby Hayman scoring 36.

Herbie were all out for 68 in reply as Luke Hayman took four wickets and Jon Scale took three.

Narberth host Burton in their quarter final on Tuesday, May 23.

St Ishmaels are also into the quarter finals after they beat Haverfordwest. Town scored 124-7 in their innings but Tish reached their target with seven wickets in hand.

Carew beat Lawrenny in the first round by 24 runs. Carew scored 156-4 before restricting Lawrenny to 132 all out.

Tish host Carew on Tuesday, May 23.

Llangwm will play Llanrhian in the other quarter final on Wednesday, May 24.

Llangwm reached this stage after they saw off Pembroke Dock. The Dock scored 119-9 in their innings before Llangwm reached their target with seven wickets in hand.

Llanrhian had a walk over in the first round after Llechryd were unable to get a side.
