Five-star Goodwick see off Swifts

Goodwick United's Johnny Horgan

GOODWICK United proved too strong for Monkton Swifts on Saturday (Jan 28) as they earned a 5-0 win at Pheonix Park.

The win keeps them top of Division 1, just a point ahead of closest challengers Merlins Bridge.

Jordan Thomas put the home side ahead in the 28th minute and it was 2-0 at half time after Dan James’ 37th minute strike.

Rhys Jones made it 3-0 on the hour mark before Will Haworth added Goodwick’s fourth in the 77th minute.

Haworth was replaced late on by Horgan and within a minute of coming he added the home sides’ fifth goal of the game.

On Saturday, February 4, Goodwick take a break from league action as they visit Pontlliw in the fourth round of the West Wales Cup.

Monkton are in league action as they host Kilgetty.
