Goodwick hit Fishguard for six

Goodwick United's Johnny Horgan

GOODWICK United earned bragging rights in the local derby on Saturday (Dec 17) as they beat Fishguard 6-0.

Scott Delaney put Goodwick ahead shortly before the break and he then turned provider for James Bryan to score his side’s second in injury time.

Three minutes into the second half Rhys Jones scored Goodwick’s third to all but end any hopes Fishguard had of making a comeback.

Johnny Horgan made it 4-0 four minutes later and he added his second goal, and Goodwick’s fifth, on the hour mark.

Jones then grabbed his second with thirteen minutes to go to complete the scoring.

The win keeps Goodwick six points behind leaders Merlins Bridge, on whom they have two games in hand.

Fishguard remain in eighth place following the defeat but are now without a win in four league games.

They will look to put that right when league action resumes on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
