JD Cymru Premier: Bluebirds look to end first phase on a high

HAVERFORDWEST County play Connah’s Quay Nomads on Saturday (Jan 21), in the final game of the first phase of the JD Cymru Premier season.

With everything already decided, fixtures for the second phase have already been released and Bluebirds manager Tony Pennock will want a positive result ahead of the next set of games.

The Bluebirds were beaten by TNS in their last game on January 7 but they certainly gave the runaway leaders a game and they will look to do so again against the side that sits second in the table.

The Nomads earned a narrow 1-0 win over the Bluebirds in their last encounter and the game at the Ogi Bridge Meadow could be another close encounter.

With five of the teams in the bottom half separated by only six points, all sides will want to pick up a win on Saturday to give them the best possible start in that second phase which gets underway on February 11.

The Bluebirds will start the second half of the season away to Caernarfon, who currently sit one place above them in the table.

They then have a home game against Flint before another away trip to Pontypridd United.

They will also begin March away from home as they visit Park Avenue to take on Aberystwyth Town. Two home games follow against Airbus and Caernarfon.

In their final three games in April they have two home games against Pontypridd and Aberystwyth before finishing away at Airbus in what could be a crucial run of fixtures as the Bluebirds look to secure a seventh placed finish.

All JD Cymru Premier games on Saturday kick off at 5:15pm.
