Kilgetty hit Neyland for six

KILGETTY closed the gap to the top six in Division 1 on Saturday as they beat Neyland 6-3.

Neyland had pressed early on but it was Kilgetty who went ahead in the thirteenth minute as a cross from the right hand side fell to Owain Coombes who slotted home.

Four minutes later though Neyland were back level as an excellent ball down the right by Corey Richards found Aidan Rees who calmly pulled it back to Mike Chandler to score to level the game.

With 27 minutes gone a cross from right was well headed in by Stephen Thomas as Kilgetty regained the lead.

Two minutes later it was 3-1 as Richard Tebbutt did well to work himself some space before firing into the net.

Kilgetty added a fourth shortly before the break as anothe cross from the right was headed in by Tebbutt. It left the home side with a lot to do in the second half if they were to get anything out of the game.

Both sides had chances to score again before the break but it remained 4-1 when the half time whistle went.

Twenty minutes into the second Neyland pulled a goal back as a ball over the top from Mike Chandler found Fletcher Picton who did well to beat the defenders before scoring.

Any hopes Neyland had of making a comeback were dashed four minutes later as Tebbutt beat a couple of players on the edge of the box before shooting into the net to make it 2-5.

With fifteen minutes to go a Kilgetty corner was headed in by Richard Cope to all but seal the win for the visitors.

Neyland did not give up and in the third minute of injury time, a good pass from Corey Richards found Fletcher Picton who scored to make it 3-6.

It was an excellent win for Kilgetty who now host Merlins Bridge next Saturday, January 28. Neyland are also in action as they welcome Pennar Robins.
