Monkton and Pennar share the points

THE derby game between Monkton Swifts and Pennar Robins finished all square on Saturday (Mar 4) as the game ended 1-1.

Monkton had beaten Pennar in Senior Cup action and the reverse league fixture but they came up against a Robins side who had won their last two games.

The Swifts were also on a good run of form going into the game with four straight wins in all competitions.

But it was Pennar who struck first as Phil Thompson opened the scoring in just the second minute, continuing where he left off last week after a hat trick against Fishguard.

The Robins held on to their lead until the break but the Swifts were keen to get back into the game in the second half.

They brought on new signing Joe Leahy nine minutes into the second period as they went in search of an equaliser.

And with 73 minutes gone it was Leahy who scored to bring his side level, scoring his first goal for the Swifts.

Try as they might neither side could find a winner and they would have to settle for a share of the points.

The point keeps Pennar ninth in the table, three points above the bottom two. Monkton stay in fourth place as they missed the chance to go above Hakin into third place.

On Saturday, March 11, Monkton visit Kilgetty while Pennar Robins are away to Clarbeston Road.
