Monkton go third with win over Kilgetty

MONKTON Swifts moved back into third place in Division 1 of the Pembrokeshire League on Saturday (Feb 4) as they beat Kilgetty 3-1.

The Swifts did not have it all their own way though as Kilgetty took the lead in the tenth minute thanks to a goal from Steve Thomas.

It remained 1-0 to the visitors until half time but just three minutes into the second half Monkton levelled with a goal from Paul Miller.

Both sides made changes as they went in search of a winner but ten minutes from time it was the Swifts who went ahead with Declan Carroll getting the goal.

Five minutes later Ben Steele added Monkton’s third to all but seal the win and the three points for the home side.

They are now third in the table but sit fifteen points behind the top two having played a few games less.

On Saturday, February 11, both sides take a break from league action as they take part in the quarter finals of the Senior Cup.

Kilgetty host Merlins Bridge while Monkton host local rivals Pennar Robins.
