Narberth edge past Lawrenny

NARBERTH earned their first win of the season on Saturday (May 20) as they beat Lawrenny by just two wickets.

Narberth won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Lawrenny out for 187.

Steve Lewis scored 42 for Lawrenny, who also had scores of 34 from Harry Thomas and 26 from Rob Williams. Alfie Buckle scored 24 before Rhys Eynon finished unbeaten on 23.

Davy Johns was the pick of the bowlers for Narberth as he finished with figures of 4-38. Loui Davies had 2-28 and Matthew Johns also bowled well for his figures of 2-35. Ben Hughes (2-36) also chipped in with two wickets.

In reply, Ben Quartermaine batted well as he reached his half century before falling on a score of 59.

Rhodri Dyer added 26 and Will Nicholas added 20. Lawrenny continued to pick up wickets with Jamie Lewis taking 3-36 while Lewis had 2-38.

However, they were unable to remove Ben Hughes who finished not out on 43 to see his side over the line.

On Saturday, May 27, Narberth host Cresselly while Lawrenny host Saundersfoot.
