Senior Cup: Tenby ease past Solva

TENBY booked their place in the third round of the Senior Cup on Saturday (Nov 19) as they beat Solva 7-0.

It was a battle of two second division sides and both were looking to get back to winning ways after recent defeats.

Jacob Hipkiss put Tenby ahead in the 16th minute and six minutes later Dan Storer doubled the home side’s lead.

On the stroke of half time Hipkiss added his second to leave Solva with an uphill battle in the second half.

Just two minutes into the second period, George Taylor sent the ball forward for Scott Ferney and he excellently lifted the ball over the Solva keeper and into the net.

Ferney also saw a shot go wide while Jerome Mansbridge saw a shot saved by Solva keeper Luke Phillips.

On the hour mark, Ferney set up Mansbridge who stayed on his feet despite a tackle and went on to slide the ball into the bottom right corner to make it 5-0.

Ten minutes later James Bridges added Tenby’s sixth and Storer added his second late on to seal the win.

On Saturday, November 26, the sides will do battle again in Division 2, this time at the home of Solva.
