Police action imminent as motorists flout the law in Haverfordwest town centre streets

Goat Street and Hill Lane are under police patrol

Traffic legislation in two Haverfordwest streets continues to be flouted by motorists as cars continue to travel through Hill Lane and Goat Street to reach destinations in other parts of the town.

Angry residents have now submitted their concerns to county councillor Thomas Baden Tudor in a bid to ensure that the issue will be addressed and terminated.

“Motorists need to be aware that both of these streets, Hill Lane and Goat Street, are except for access only,” Cllr Tudor told The Herald.

“This means that motorists aren’t permitted to drive past the signs unless they require access to a particular property along either of those streets.

“But it has now reached the point where a failure to comply will result in a fine from the police who will now be regularly patrolling the area.”

Residents claim that the problem is being further exacerbated by the current temporary closure of Quay Street. The finger of blame is also being pointed at motorists attending the Leisure Centre on St Thomas’s Green as well as shops and flats in Market Street.
