Proceeds of Crime Act commences into convicted Whitland cannabis farm operators

The sophisticated cannabis operation in Cwmbach, near Whitland

Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings have commenced into the case of Edward and Linda McCann and their son Daniel, who were convicted of operating a multi-million pound cannabis production factory at their home near Whitland in 2022.

The matter was brought before Swansea Crown Court earlier today (Friday) following a request by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) proceedings will also include Jack Whittock and Justin Liles, who were both employed at the cannabis factory at the time of the police raid.

A total of 202 cannabis plants were recovered in the purposely-adapted barn which was in a secluded location in Cwmbach, near Whitland.

The plants were in various stages of maturity and the crop was used in the supply of the drug as well as in the production of products including cannabis oil and cannabis-infused chocolate.

The plants had a potential value of up to £46,000. An additional 80kg of cannabis products were recovered by police which had a street value of up to £1.5m.

£10,000 in cash was found in the family house situated next to the barn which had been packed into £1,000 bundles.

The POCA hearing will now seek to determine the financial gain that each of the five defendants benefitted from during their highly sophisticated operation.

The hearing has been scheduled to take place on July 21.

Edward and Daniel Mccan pleaded guilty to conspiring to produce and supply cannabis and were dealt prison sentences of seven years and seven months, and eight years and six months respectively.
