Castle set to host summer outdoor theatre shows

OUTDOOR theatre is set to return to Swansea this summer – with stories from two popular British literary icons.

Shakespeare’s romantic comedy Twelfth Night – presented by Immersion Theatre – is due to play in the grounds of Oystermouth Castle on Wednesday, August 9.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, adapted from stories by Beatrix Potter and presented by Quantum Theatre, will be performed at the same venue the following day.

Both performances are being organised by Swansea Council.

Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “Both productions should be thoroughly entertaining and memorable for both visitors and residents alike.

“I thank our event sponsors holidaycottages.co.uk for helping us to entertain local audiences in this way.”

Serena Pearce, of holidaycottages.co.uk said: “We believe in sustainable tourism and want to build lasting relationships with our communities so they can continue to thrive for years to come, making their areas good places to live in and visit.”

Outdoor theatre attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic and settle into the shows or make use of the local shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and ice cream parlours.
