Murder investigation launched after woman’s death

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at her home in Swansea.

South Wales Police said officers were called to a property on Gomer Road, Townhill, at 2:00pm on Thursday (Feb 27), where they discovered the body of 47-year-old Leanne Williams.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the investigation and remain in police custody.

A post-mortem examination confirmed Williams had suffered “significant injuries consistent with an assault,” police said.

Community in shock

Detective Superintendent Mark O’Shea described the incident as “tragic news” that has deeply affected the local community.

“We are piecing together Leanne’s last known movements from 6:00pm on Monday (Feb 24) to 2:20pm on Thursday (Feb 27), when officers found her,” he said.

He added that police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case at this time.

A police cordon remains in place at the Gomer Road address as forensic teams continue their investigation.
