Police issue warning after steroids could be linked to one death and one hospital admission

SOUTH WALES POLICE have issued a warning to drug users in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot over concerns a bad batch of steroids is circulating.

The warning comes after one person has died and another has been hospitalised in the last week, which police believe to be linked to the bad batch of steroids.

The bad batch of steroids is thought to be circulating the Swansea Bay area.

Detective Inspector David Wells issued a warning to users to be cautious and protect themselves.

He said: “Users of controlled drugs should be aware that they can never be 100% sure of exactly what they are taking. These drugs are illegal and there is every possibility that they may contain a cocktail of toxic ingredients.

“I would urge all drug users in the area to be cautious and to seek advice and support from local support services in order to try and protect themselves.”

The Wales Drug and Alcohol Helpline – 0808 808 2234 – provides a free and bilingual single point of contact for anyone in Wales wanting further information or help relating to drugs or alcohol.

Anyone with any information about the sale of illegal drugs in the area is urged to contact 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously via 0800 555 111.
