SOUTH WALES POLICE have confirmed today that two men from Somerset have been charged with the murder of Andrew Main, a 33-year-old man from Falkirk, Scotland.
Joseph Dix, 26, from Frome, and Macauley Ruddock, 27, from Bath, appeared before Swansea Crown Court on Friday, 13 September.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Andrew Main was involved in an incident in Swansea city centre on July 17 and was taken to hospital, where he remained in a critical condition.
Despite receiving medical care, he tragically passed away on August 14 from his injuries.
Following his death, South Wales Police launched a murder investigation.
In a heartfelt tribute, Andrew’s sister, Nikki Main, expressed the family’s grief and paid homage to her late brother.
“Andrew – my baby brother – was sadly taken from us far too soon,” she said. “He was adored by family and friends and beloved by more. We are absolutely devastated by his sudden passing and ask anyone with information to please, please come forward.”
She added: “He will forever live in our hearts and memories. He was a witty man with a huge heart – loyal to the core. He was a fabulous brother, fun uncle, and supportive daddy to his two children. There will never be anyone like Andrew. The hole that has been left in our hearts will never be filled.”
The family have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from their community during this difficult time. “Everyone in our community has been grief-stricken, but we have rallied together as one at this sad time,” Nikki said. “As a family, we are destroyed by what has happened to Andrew. We can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support they have shown.”
The murder investigation, led by South Wales Police, continues as they prepare for the trial early next year.
