MONKTON SWIFTS earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday (Oct 29) as they beat local rivals Pennar Robins 5-0 at Bush Camp.

Both sides earned a victories in their two meetings last season and another close game was expected.

Monkton hit the bar with a header before Ben Steele put the visitors ahead in the 41st minute as he shot low into the corner of the net.

Ben Steele scored the first with a shot just from inside the box after being tee’d up by Declan Carroll.

It was 1-0 at half time but both teams had chances to score, notably Phil Thompson for Pennar, and Dylan Davies for the Swifts. Ross Jones also went close with a header, while Ben and Declan both went close again.

Declan scored the second after some quick feet and an improvised toe poke from 18 yards beating Craig Lucas in the Pennar goal.

He also scored the third, once again his quick feet enabled him to beat a couple of Pennar defenders before sitting the goalkeeper on his backside and nonchalantly walking the ball over the line.

Paul Miller scored a blistering goal for the Swifts’ fourth. Some excellent control out wide and cut-in from the right before smashing it past the goalkeeper.

The fifth, quite aptly earned Declan his hat trick. He picked the ball up on the edge of the box, beat one or two defenders and slotted it in the bottom corner.

On Saturday, November 5, Monkton are in action in the West Wales Cup as they visit St Clears. Pennar are also in action in the Cup with a home tie against Loughor Rovers. Both games kick off at 1:30pm.
