Forward Sardar Azmoun, who is currently sidelined with an injury, has been named in Iran’s World Cup team by manager Carlos Queiroz.
Azmoun has been out for Bayer Leverkusen ever since he sustained a calf injury during the warm-up for their Champions League match against Porto on October 4th.
Omid Ebrahimi, a midfielder for Al Wakrah, suffered a groyne injury during a friendly match against Nicaragua earlier this week. As a result, he was unable to compete for a spot in the team.
On the 21st of November, Iran will kick off their World Cup campaign against England.
In their subsequent Group B matches, they will compete against Wales on November 25 and the United States of America on November 29.
The forward Mehdi Taremi has scored 13 goals in 19 games for Porto so far this season. He is set to spearhead the attack for Iran when they face Tunisia in their final warm-up game before the World Cup.
