BEFORE Wales competes against the USA in the World Cup, Welsh language channel S4C will hold a unique “Wales and the World” performance on Times Square tonight to honour the connections between the nations.
The performance is a part of the channel’s lineup of shows honouring Wales’ World Cup victory. The Hollywood celebrities and co-owners of Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, will receive a special worldwide award during the concert.
Additionally, it will have well-known actors like Michael Sheen, Mathew Rhys, and Ioan Gruffudd.
The concert, which took place tonight at Times Square’s Sony Hall, will be aired on S4C on Sunday night before Wales’ opening World Cup play against the United States.
Singer Mared Williams, one of the performers, told S4C Newyddion: “I’m really looking forward to being a part of this performance. The existence of a Welsh community in New York is really pleasant.
“I really feel that the Welsh community has come together this weekend.
“The preparations have been going well. It’s a privilege to share the stage with other singers from Wales.”
Mared added that the concert was an opportunity to share Welsh culture with the world.
“We have so much wealth in our music and culture,” he said.
“It’s really nice to see Wales getting a world-famous platform recently on the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ program with Ryan Renolds and Rob McElhenney.
“So I’m really proud that we can share the Welsh language and be able to create a different partnership here in New York.”
You can watch the concert on S4C on Sunday 20 November.
