Baglan see off Cwmgors in high-scoring game

TWO late tries in a purple patch for Cwmgors only proved consolation scores for the Cherries who sank to another defeat in a high-scoring affair at Baglan and still have just the one league victory to their name this season.

In their first start since December 3 due to the Christmas break and subsequent bad weather, Cwmgors made a positive start, winning a
penalty, but Jordan Smith’s effort was wide.

The home side went ahead with a tenth-minute opening try, adding to it with a second soon after. Jordan Smith managed a penalty success in between the tries.

Baglan’s third try arrived, but the visitors hit back well just before half time with a well worked try, finished off by “Ows” and converted by Smith.

Trailing 21-10, Cwmgors fell further behind early in the second half as Baglan racked up the bonus point.

A late flurry from the Cherries, to their credit, saw them nab a brace of late tries, but it was all a bit too late to alter the result as Baglan
outscored them by seven tries to three.

Cwmgors return after the Six Nations break with a home fixture on February 18 when Nantymoel visit Parc y Werin.
