The Qatar World Cup 2022 and the Six Nations, two of the largest events on the athletic calendar, will be the subjects of a behind-the-scenes documentaries produced by streaming juggernaut Netflix, however Welsh supporters may want to look away as the timing isn’t exactly right for us!
The two new shows are part of a lineup of sports programming that also features programmes on the Tour de France and the Invictus Games.
The news of a Qatar 2022 series cames soon after Netflix streamed Captains, a show that followed several international football team captains during the World Cup qualification process and was produced in collaboration with FIFA+.
While the Six Nations series will provide exclusive access to the rugby union championship, the World Cup production will showcase exclusive behind-the-scenes video of all 32 participating teams. The first is scheduled to make its debut this summer, while the second will hit in 2024.

The World Cup and Six Nations tournaments are the latest addition to a long range of compelling sports films. The Netflix popular Formula 1 series “F1: Drive to Survive,” which will return for its fifth season on February 24, has inspired the streaming service to step up its production of behind-the-scenes docuseries for television.
A multi-part documentary chronicling David Beckham’s life and career over four decades and using personal archive material is scheduled to be broadcast in 2023. Tennis series Break Point premiered on January 13 and golf series Full Swing debuts on February 15.
