Anglesey welcomes North Wales Pride

THE Isle of Anglesey County Council is proud to welcome North Wales Pride to the area for the first time. The event will be held in Llangefni on Saturday, 20 July 2024.

The festivities begin at 12pm with stalls and family activities at the Town Hall followed by a parade from the Dingle car park. Poetry readings and the official pride party will be held at the Town Hall and the Bull Hotel.

Deputy Council Leader, Councillor Gary Pritchard, said: “We are delighted to be chosen as the location of this year’s North Wales Pride event. This inclusive occasion celebrates diversity – including the diverse communities that exist in areas such as Anglesey. It is so important that members of our rural communities have the opportunity to participate. We wish the organisers and participants well.”

North Wales Pride was established in 2011 to create an opportunity for rural areas to come together in celebration and support of the LGBTQ+ community. The County Council is marking the event by displaying the rainbow flag outside its main office in Llangefni.

Anglesey Council’s Chief Executive, Dylan J Williams, added, “Our Council’s vision is to create a healthy and prosperous Anglesey where people can thrive. We value North Wales Pride’s mission to reduce social isolation and offer all members of our rural communities an opportunity to flourish. Residents, whether they are from the LGBTQ+ community or not, will be able to get involved in the event in Llangefni.”
