FIVE people have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old woman at a block of flats in Talbot Green, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Joanne Penney was shot at Green Park on Sunday and died from her injuries. Police are investigating multiple lines of inquiry, including the possibility that she was a victim of mistaken identity.
South Wales Police confirmed that four people have been charged with murder, while a fifth has been charged with assisting an offender. A 32-year-old man was also arrested in Suffolk on Friday, bringing the total number of arrests to seven.
Ms Penney’s family described her as a daughter, mother, sister, and niece who was “deeply loved by all who knew her.”
The five people charged are:

- Marcus Huntley, 20, from St Mellons, Cardiff – charged with murder
- Melissa Quailey-Dashper, 39, from Leicester – charged with murder
- Joshua Gordon, 27, from Oadby, Leicestershire – charged with murder
- Tony Porter, 68, from Braunstone Town, Leicestershire – charged with murder and participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
- Kristina Ginova, 21, from Oadby, Leicestershire – charged with assisting an offender
All five appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where Ms Ginova’s application for bail was refused. They were remanded in custody and will appear before Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.
Det Chief Supt Ceri Hughes said: “We are still trying to piece together the circumstances behind Ms Penney’s death. I urge anyone with information about the incident at Llys Illtud on Sunday evening to come forward—the smallest detail could be of vital importance.”
